F-7U1 inscribed Peace Dollar

    An interesting find in a bag of peace dollars. This one is scratched with 'F-7U1' on both sides. I googled the F-7U1 and came up with this - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vought_F7U_Cutlass#mediaviewer/File:F7U-1_CVB-41_launch2_1941.jpg
    Also on the reverse are the initials BN

    Perhaps it was a team identifier or good luck piece for the men who were assigned to fly these during the VN conflict. Just wondering if anyone has heard of this sort of thing. Maybe one of our readers out there flew one. KIMG0035.jpg KIMG0036.jpg

    This is just speculation , but if a pilot was using this as a good luck piece , I'd think he'd have it done a bit more professionally . It looks more like a kid or someone took a nail and scratched those letters in .
