If those scratches are not raised, then the coins were not damaged pre-strike, meaning you’ve now “learned” something untrue about the minting process and errors.</p><p><br /></p><p>Here is something you should learn about error coins. Anything can be done to any coin the exact same way, when it comes to damaging a coin. Whether you have 1 or 100 of the same coin exhibiting the same thing does not do anything to help us determine if it’s an error. What matters are the diagnostics of the coin. If the coins showed have raised scratches, it is a mint error. If the scratches are down into the coin, they are PMD, and trying to determine how coins were damaged after strike is really just a guessing game.[/QUOTE]</p><p><br /></p>
