Legoman, my son who is on a Lego Robotics Team would definitely be interested in meeting you someday :).
He received something like ten different Lego items between his November birthday and Christmas, and he's been assembling them since Christmas day (it's three days later as I write this).

My handle "umtrr-author" comes from the Internet based column I write on a specific model train manufacturer, the Unofficial Micro-Trains Release Report. Most of my 'boarding' is on model train sites and I am somewhat notorious there. (The UMTRR starts Year 11 next month.) I have enough net stuff to remember so I use the same handle on non-train venues as well.

years ago before I got into coins I would save every bit of my money and buy Legos with it---I got some hot deals from Goodwill and most of the time all of the pieces were there---
I haven't done alot with them in the last few years---I have them all in a large box....I want to go thought and put them all together as most of them are sets.....
Legos are amost as fun as coins---and in a study that was done it said that kids that play with legos are much smarter than kids that don't----I know that proved that wrong but maybe your kid will prove that right!! :D :D

I just looked back through this thread and saw that I never posted about my user name....

My mom and dad have some old school friends--and we get in contact with each other a good bit and see each other maybe every year---they have kids around my age and my sister's age so we all get along---somewhere along they started getting called Uncle ____ and Aunt _____ .....to make a long story short Uncle..... called me Speedy one time and it has stayed...
But I have alot of other nick names---I guess Speedy was my first and on ever coin Forum I'm a member of I'm Speedy....the only other Nickname that has really struck is Butch....long story.... :D

  14. acanthite

    acanthite ALIIS DIVES

Acanthite is the stable form of silver sulfide at room temperature. It is also a primary ore mineral of silver, thus figures rather large into what has gone into much of the coinage collected by forum members here. Discoveries of silver deposits in the 1850's in Nevada played a big role in 'saving' silver coin production in the US, and was responsible for opening of the Carson City mint.

Oh, and the tarnish on silver coins is essentially acanthite.

Speedy, you've piqued our curiousity... so, let's hear it.

As for my screen name, well, it's really not too difficult... It took me all of 1 second to think it up when I filled out the information to join the forum. If you haven't guessed, I live in Oklahoma City.......

Well I can tell a really short part----
I'm friends with a good many police men---one of them (who just became Sheriff) has known me since I was born---he had nick named me with a name I don't care to tell you about :D and one day couldn't remember it and Butch was what he came up with---over the years it has stayed with me and I guess I'll always be known as Butch to some people---in fact one day I was out with this police man and 2-3 other cops (they can't stand it when someone uses the term cop) and he called me by my real name and the other guys didn't know who he was talking----after a few min. one of them asked who in the world was he talking too...when he said me the guys said I thought his name was Butch......
That is the short of it---and long of it--- :D :D

  18. Drusus

    Drusus Pecunia non olet

Drusus - Cognomina of the Gens Livia

After Nero Claudius Drusus Germanicus (Drusus the Elder):

Soldier, Gov. of Gaul, Son of Livia, Stepson of Augustus, Younger brother of Tiberius, Father of Germanicus Caesar, Recieved the title Germanicus for his sucesses against the Germans

Nero Claudius Drusus (the younger): Son of Nero Claudius Drusus and Antonia Minor, Brother to Imp. Claudius, Father to Caligula, Nero Caesar, Drusus Caesar, Drusilla, Livilla, and Agrippina the Younger (mother of Nero)

Great Roman General: Sucessfull campaigns in Pannonia and Dalmatia. He is recorded to be an excellent soldier and inspired leader, loved by the legions and the people. He was appointed consul after five mandates as quaestor. Appointed commander of the forces in Germania.

Legions rioted on the news that the succession befell on the unpopular Tiberius. Refusing to accept this, the rebel soldiers cried for Germanicus as emperor. But he chose to honour Augustus' choice and put an end to the mutiny, preferring to continue only as a general. He subdued the Germanic tribes east of the Rhine, and assured their defeat in the Battle of the Weser River in 16. Found the remains of the three legions massacred in the Battle of the Teutoburg Forest and buried them with high honours and recovered two of the legion's eagles. went to Asia, where in he defeated the kingdoms of Cappadocia and Commagena, turning them into Roman provinces. An all around great Roman.
