[Exonumia] Anonymous Masonic penny token - salesman sample?

I've handled many different Masonic penny tokens of various designs. All of them have had the lodge name, number, year of charter and city/state.

This one is completely anonymous, the outer circle around "one penny" where the lodge info would be is blank.

I'm thinking it may be a salesman sample or something of that sort, where it would be presented to advertise the design. Then if a contract was hashed out, the finished product would be delivered with the lodge info added to the main design.

    Anyone familiar with these?

These are "generic" Masonic Pennies for lodges which did not want to spend the money for "personalized" ones.

I agree with willieboyd. I've seen hundreds of these generics over the years.

First one I've come across, though I've seen hundreds of the non-generic type :)
