How about a new photo of this puppy. I actually took it out of the Capital Holder this time.

Much better white balance as well.

I like it! A BU barber quarter is on my list for sometime down the line. :)

I think I am going to send this one to NGC for grading, I bought it raw from Heritage 11 years ago. I can't even remember the last time I saw Heritage sell a raw US coin.

Haha, I know they were selling a couple raw world coins a year or two ago. US coins? Not since I got back into collecting and checking ha.com, so about 3 years now, at a minimum.

Did you use the same lighting as the previous photos? If so, may I ask if and/or why you prefer Ott florescent over other types of lighting?

I am bumping this thread because I have just re-imaged all my AU/BU Barber Quarters one last time before they go to NGC for grading. The photos above are now 4 years old and all three coins at the time were untoned. The 1892 & 1897 have been in my Dansco while the 1916-D has resided in an Intercept Shield 2x2 during that time. Here are the results.

I actually like the album toning that the first two coins have developed but I also like the fact the the 1916-D has no significant toning.

That's a flashback, haven't seen an "Exhibit" thread in a long time. Great pics Paul, interested to see what NGC says. Btw, on the '16 is that a rim ding or just a die (rim) break at 4:00 on the obv.

Speaking of flashbacks, where ya been hidin Mike. It is a rim ding. Not severe enough to keep it out of a slab, but I think it might kill any chance the coin had at an MS65 holder. I expect MS64 on the 1916-D and would be thrilled with MS64+.

The span of 4 years for this thread has resulted in an amazing progression - thanks to Lehigh for rejuvinating it!

This thread actually causes me a little sadness. I think that the majority of the people who are current members/readers of this forum remember Ruben (Mrbrklyn) as someone who just started a lot of useless threads with simple links in order to boost his post count. The fact is that this thread was part of Ruben's master plan to create a Cointalk museum where members could create their own EXHIBITS and then Ruben would add a link to the master museum thread. In my 4 years on this forum, I still think it was the best initiative I have ever seen on Cointalk with Clinker's Trivia threads a close second. I miss them both.

Furthermore, Ruben's Cointalk museum idea created one of the best threads I have ever read on any numismatic forum. Exhibit: Half Cents - 1804 - January 1st 2009 - Fish. I hope one day Fish finds the time to restore the photos to that legendary thread. I swear that he posted that and everyone in the contest just threw their hands up and said, WE HAVE A WINNER!

    Great photos Lehigh.

That master plan doesn't sound like a bad idea at all.

Shoot. Thought ya might have had a shot at '65 with that one Paul. '63 seems a tad bit insulting for that piece........

Oh boy, I wasn't expecting a 63 on that one. Thanks for reviving your thread, I enjoyed the read. I know Ruben isn't on the boards anymore, but I hope he's doing well.
