Thanks Mat. Very nice coin as well! Very cool reverse on that denarius happy_collector! Thanks for sharing and for the kind words. Excellent post as always, my friend. I figured that there might be some good portraits with distinctive features (whether true to their subject or not) among the provincial issues. Some wonderful examples you show btw! I still think that the official mint at Rome was using the portrait of the emperor as a guide for the empress during the Nerva-Antonine dynasty up until Faustina I. The portrait on the Sabina you show strikes me as being very closely styled on the early (ie younger looking) portraits of Hadrian. It also doesn’t look much like her extant statuary like you might expect after looking at the likeness of the statues / coins of Fuastina. Also thanks for mentioning and therefore giving me a chance to post my much loved purple Pius. :D I appreciate the kudos on the background as well. I’m always experimenting with my favorite way to show my photos. Almost like a hobby in a hobby :) Thank you my friend. It’s interesting how consistent the portraits are from the lifetime to the diva issues. Nice Diva addition! That is quite a beauty Donna. Well centered and well struck.
