Excessive petruding die marks

Discussion in 'Error Coins' started by Lorenzo Jauregui, Mar 1, 2020.

  1. Hello everyone. I ran into this penny with at least 100 severely petruding die marks. Most are large and the smaller ones which are many exist between the pillars. Wanted to know if this would be considered an error. Thanks.

    You counted them all?

  4. LoL. Too many to count. By my guess we'll over 100 on one side alone.

  6. Don't tell me that I need to make sure that there is more than 200 to qualify as an error. Lol

Are you referring to the planchet striations or the plating blisters? Either way I don't believe they add any value to the coin.

  8. Yes the planchet striations. I thought that they would add some kind of value. Perhaps not a few which are used as markers but I just thought that perhaps having more than two hundred large and small which gives the coin a completely different appearance is a unique sight to see. But thank you for your reply. I appreciate it. Also I will be posting a few coins that I found and try to get some advice.
