Great coins, but who's Daniel Ching? :)

Daniel Ching of Los Angeles collected coins stamps and other Chinese items from 1960 to early 1980s. He was widely known to collectors and dealers in the U.S. as a go to on Chinese coins, and had opportunity to examine and buy thousands of common to scarce coins, selected for variety or high grade, including many duplicates. His coins are easily identified by Dan's neatly inked envelopes.

Nice set. I assume you will be sending these in? Looks like some strong potential with a few of them :)

I got the 29 pieces I purchased in the mail today. I don't believe I have seen so many top tier Chinese coins for sale at one time or place without a major auction.

I can remember as a teenager that those provincial Chinese coins were often in junkboxes of coin dealers - nobody really cared about them. I liked them, particularly some of the scarcer provinces in the west. Nowadays the only province I collect from is Kiang-see ie Jiangxi.

I remember at one point when we were in China that we were with a guide and in a museum and I recall reading what was on the coins in the Mandarin and surprising the guide that I knew enough to be able to read them - had to explain my interests in Chinese coins.
