    idk, thats the way that i clean coins that i find metal detecting to get the gunk off them and make them purty. i think walnut shells might work

    If you tumble it in gravel, it will beat the crap out of the coin. Even walnut shells are bad...the reason you use it on your brass is to make it "shiney clean" right? Well, it shines it by scratching it. Do you want to clean this coin, or make it shiney? There is a huge difference.

    It's Still taking a olive oil bath. But I agree with "Pretty vs Pitted vs Polished." This item is beyond recovery, I think. So I was thinking about just removing some of the Ugly when I began after I could determine what it was!

    But I agree.

    Purdy sure it will not make it worse at this point.

    Still holding off until I get to compare it to a real coin......but you are in the running if I decide to polish it.:thumb:
