I know a lot of folks do not like to tell what area they are from but a general area would be nice. Proof coins probably better look at some books or ebay or do some more search. Around me in Western NY you have to buy 2 Boxes of halves $1,000 to order them. most that they had around are gone to searchers they do get a few here and there at the banks without CCM I expect to loose about 5 to 6 bucks every time I use the Credit unions machine and I have to feed it slow. Then if you find a bank or teller to order them there is also the fee for chocolate or coffee, To sweeten them up they do not have to do it for you. So the hobby of going through half dollars can get exspencive BUT I found 3 proofs Thats Circulated proofs!!! on my last 600 dollars worth. I think thats cool because they go in a folder for a Kennedy collection for grand kids. Now with silver dipping every day it can get pricey to loose coins in the counter, pay off teller, and pull the few you find that look cool or you think could be an error. . So its like any other hobby it will cost ya I like nickles, They are fun and I keep them all under 62 or so. and not as much of a investment to buy. So A proof can be silver or just plane and they usally have a mirror like chrome like finish with his hed frosted slightly bet way I can describe. I look at the edges, Look for dull silver, then look for nice thick new type edge and put them aside then look at every coin with glasses on for date, Mintmark, error, and plop in use bucket or save for second look or keep.

I am also 50 years old love the hobby been doing it for well all my life seriously 15 years now but when mom and dad used to get the small clay container of old coins out once or twice a year for us boys it started something that I will always treasure and remember.
