Like can you imagine painstakingly putting together a set of modern proofs over the course of 40 years? Even funnier when he started this process in the 70s some of these proofs were like a decade old. Little did he know the search for a complete set of 10 year old proof coins was going to take up the next 4 decades of his life. It's why I could never attempt to put together a set of Sacagewea proofs, I don't want to start something that I couldn't finish til 2060 lol, I mean come on seller, just go with the usual "found at an estate sale they sat in an attic for 40 years and toned up like this" story.
The WORST crime is the 1950. From this shot it looks cameo-y. The set is up $35 the last couple of hours.
I just don't understand who is bidding on this. The better dates have hairlines all over them to boot. Who wants to pay more than a small premium over junk silver for hairlines, AT, and corrosion spots.
So V. Kurt, you say you can remove this artificial toning? I am not curious about your process, but what if the AT is permanently etched onto the coin?
It could be, I suppose. But I've successfully done so many proofs, that it's hard to imagine I can't. There is one 1953 Franklin I remember that was less than a success. I haven't examined these individual shots. I now looked at them. I'd really like a shot at that 1950. The 1951 has SO many dings.
Oh there's still 5 days on this auction. It's already $305 this is going to be a buyers remorse when it's all over. Seller does not accept returns
Good evening ladies and gentleman If it was Not for lack of knowledge perhaps I would know something Anyway these coins look like they were blow torched, is that possible to get that effect with these. coins
I suppose that's one way, but I think it's more subtle than that, exposure to hydrogen sulfide gas perhaps.
$423. Nearly 4 days left to go. Hey, do you think they’re like a puzzle, and you have to put them together to make a picture? Like modern UK circulating coins? I bet it’s a portrait of Doug.
Just because they’re in a holder saying “proof” doesn’t mean they’re proof. I doubt seriously these coins are proof. He’d lose his shirt.
Haven’t you been watching the World Cup? They’re giving out “yellow cards” for doing that. Sliding? Okay. Losing your shirt? Nope. I knew France had a good squad, but where did the “Crustaceans” come from?
