An example of what I found: http://www.eurocoins.co.uk/france.html

Actually, I'm looking what you mentioned as 'Normal' loose sets but I'm also concerned about the condition of the coins.

Thanks for the shares. I like the Cathedral of Cordoba coin the best.

Thanks for posting the new Euros

Nice to see all the new Euros. I got one of the Slovinia 2 Euros from Alan Berman in Boston.

Ah yes, those €2 commems I have too, and I aim at a "complete" collection of those. As for the "regional money" (legal tender in the issuing member state only), some pieces are nice - for example, those €3 pieces from Slovenia - but for me they are, hmm, second class money. ;) So I have a few but not that many ...

I am still short a few of the EMU and I believe 2 more that came out this year :D but have just bought the Spanish EMU so that is one more off the list and also a San Marino 1 euro which now means I have the basic set 1c to 2 euros not all the same date I admit but as I hardly ever see them here LOL I am not complaining
Have to agree with Christian some of them are great designs but others  LOL I dont hunt them down it is a case of if I see them at a fair price I will buy :D

That San Marino coin is about as common in circulation here on the Rhine (in the euro area) as it is along the Thames. ;) At least it was released for circulation and thus is not a "collectors only" piece. Heck, even the Vatican now has to issue at least half of its annual volume for circulation; this year you may actually find the VA 50 ct piece in change.

The Belgian €2 commem I find interesting not because of the design but because it is the first euro coin that has a domain name. The presidency (July-December 2010) is part of the Spanish-Belgian-Hungarian "EU Trio" presidency, so they picked the eutrio.be logo for the coin ...

Have you got the Luxembourg 2010 2e yet? the mintage is shall we say rather small compared to the others LOL

Yes, I got that one too. Not really an attractive design, I think, but ... had to have it. :) Mintages have indeed "gone down" quite a bit - the first two had mintage figures of 2.5 million and 2.7 m, then it went to 1 million, then to 800,000 and now we're at 500,000. One problem is that each and every coin from Luxembourg has to have the portrait of the Grand Duke. And apparently that is difficult if you have one side for the issue-specific design only.

The collector coins from LU are much nicer in my opinion. But they are not issued at face, their mintages are in the four-digit range - and they are quite expensive ...

Looks like I got a real lot of catching up to do ... Just got my first 3 sets of 'unofficial' UNC coins - Belgium 99, Greece 02 and Malta 08 ... 7X face value ... shipping costs is not helping ... :(

It's great that you reopened this thread again. :)

Yes, I got it as it was issued. :) The mintage that chrisild mentions (500,000) should have been enough for coin collectors. But it did not have an easy delivery process and its price raised up more than expected.

I like it very much too. Anyway, the photo that De Orc posted is not the best. And it is even more beautiful as you see it on your hand. This is not something I would say about some other Spanish designs.

    Christian,

I had posted my wish list for Euros quite a while back and have not collected a single 1 yet. Since you happen to be in the "neighborhood", how difficult and how much would it cost to get my hands in the following in uncirculated condition ?

Netherlands km245 5 Euro (2003) Vincent van Gogh
    Netherlands km254 5 Euro (2005) 60 yrs Liberation
    Netherlands km255 5 Euro (2006) 400 yrs. Australia
    Netherlands km266 5 euro (2006) Rembrandt
Netherlands km243 10 Euro (2002) William Alexander and Maxima
Netherlands km246 10 Euro (2003) Vincent van Gogh (gold)
    Netherlands km248 10 Euro (2003) Baby Amalia
    Netherlands km261 10 Euro (2005) Silver Jubilee

Neighborhood is right - except these silver and gold coins do not show up in circulation. Certainly not here in DE (where they are, unlike the Dutch circulation and commemorative coins, not even legal tender), and not in NL either ...

As you are in the US, I would try "local" dealers such as Eurocollections or RSMint. Another option could be "MA-Shops" which is a platform where various dealers (mostly from DE/EU but from elsewhere too) offer coins. See these links for the silver pieces:

    http://www.eurocollections.com/store/products.asp?id=173
    http://rsmint.com/hollandnetherlands.aspx
    http://www.ma-shops.com/euro/maCate...-1&selectSuCat=580&catName=Silber&curr=EURUSD

Note that most of the Dutch collector coins come in a "coincard" version (BU, earlier ones silver, now Ag-plated copper) and a proof version (silver). Good luck!
