In 1554 the regency was surrendered to Marie of Guise, Queen Mary&#039;s mother. The Latin legends on this coin, <i>Maria Dei Gra R Scotorum</i> translates to Mary Queen of the Scots, whilst on the reverse <i>Diligit Iusticiam</i> translates to observe justice.
