Got this Silver Eagle in the mail today, it's the 2013 Enhanced Uncirculated, struck off center from West Point. You would think that with a mintage just under 250,000, that theyd all be perfect right? This one made it past the inspector. I bought this one for 30.00 bucks. Didn't notice the strike was that much off center from the eBay pics... But here it is.
Wow, that is very cool! Never seen anything like it. The rock must've between pretty hard.. Harder than copper at least. You would almost have to think that some mint employee did that on purpose and saved the rock that made the impression on both coins... IDK, but I'm interested in that should you ever decide to sell...
That's the way I bought it. Even with a 30x there are no signs of any strike but it does show light signs of wear. I can only speculate that coins were so scarce in circulation everyone knew what is was and used it as such until it fell into someone's hands that was more interested in the coin than it's face value.
You're a pistol! I would send a box of those to PCGS "without payment".....you think they would get the message?
These are some that I already had photos of : 1960-D split before strike: 1960-D split b4 strike by stoneman227, on Flickr 1956-D lam and lam bark that popped off after I photographed it: 1956-D Lam by stoneman227, on Flickr 1988 broadstruck with nicely clashed dies ( Improved before I got it !! ) 1988 broad clash by stoneman227, on Flickr 2000 off center that is also a wide AM 2000 off cen WAM a by stoneman227, on Flickr
It popped off when I was putting it back in it's flip with an audible ping , I thought I had ruined one of my favorite lams !
