I'm not trying to argue with anyone sorry if some of u guys are mad because I don't agree with all of ur opinions thanks for the input anyway
Jason, can you explain your theory as to how this happened at the mint? It’s a serious question and one that has to be answered if you think this is truly an error.
It is clearly ground down. Slightly smaller and one pic appears to show a little reeding remaining. There is no way this can be an error.
No one here is mad. At the very beginning you stated there were two distinct errors. Then you started seeing the machining marks on the reverse face. So now you think there's only one error of the rim. We are simply asking you a question of (a) in the minting process, how would this occur ? Because all errors can be attributed to the minting process. If it occurred afterwards then it's something else. It's like a car. You can probably recognize aftermarket bumpers, lights and stuff. Which happens *after* it leaves the factory. Same question as the Mint does not make "custom" coins at 800 per minute ... FYI, if you google "quarter has smooth edge" you'll find results such as these: http://coinedformoney.blogspot.com/2012/08/smooth-edge-quarters.html and one more like yours https://www.coincommunity.com/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=272744
