199? Lincoln with issues..lol I like this coin, because to me its very interesting and good to study.
I find them like that as well and of course, keep them. I'm sure the 1909 S Lincoln cent wasn't desirable until people had trouble getting one. One never knows whats ahead in this hobby, look at the new Matte Proof Die discovery. I went to a local coin dealer's shop not long ago to see what he was about. The shop was nothing but a front for CherryPicking in my opinion and he had no knowledge of this new Matte Proof Die Discovery Charmy has been posting about on here. It's like the 1978 Penny I have found. Everyone claims it's one of the Chem-Test coins from a school project but I tested it by filing down one edge along the rim and it has a Zinc core as well. And it has a nice luster like a nickel from that year. ( no surface damage) I posted about it in the Thread " Grey Penny" if you want to see.
I think we are on the same page.. Im going to say this , most guys will view your pics and threw what ever that comes to mind. Most guys on here are newbies like myself posing like experts. And that sometime can tick me off.I do alot of research on error coins so I dnt have to depend on others to disappoint me in the end.If Im really puzzled about a coin, I have the option of sending it to one of many experts. If I dnt believe the first expert I`ll just send it to another one .Would you take one doctor`s word that there is not cure for you and your going to die in a week?
Not only that but, they want to shave your opinion of the coin as well in hopes you'll be crushed and then sell it to them cheap.(just my opinion)
I totally agree with you..I had a few scam artist try me before but I simply said no thanks I`ll keep it!!!
1903 Indian Head Here's one I found and it does not register copper on a metal detector. Notice the lip around the edge? I have 100s of IHC's and none have that lip. The lip is on the Obverse as well as the Reverse. I know about the Gold ones that were minted and I still need to get this one tested for Gold. I don't see how it could be Gold-Plated but I guess it is possible.
2005 lincoln with extra column. I say its the start of an extra column and others may have there opinion!!!!
Interesting errors. Looks like glue in the picture on that 1942. Are you aware of the Peirfort variety? Extra Thick rims and what not. I'm pretty sure most are from the early 40's. Heritage has sold a few.
Here's one I have listed on eBay right now just to see if there's any interest. Pretty tough putting a value on it. No bidding yet but it sure gets alot of views and alot of watchers.
I couldn't tell you what it is.. the picture does the talking...lol Looks like some extra metal laid on the 9 and the 8. I know for a fact it isn't deterioration though.
You know it looks more like the copper coating that was intended for the 8 never made it to its destination. The 8 looks very slim compared to the other numers and it has a silvery color like zinc ?
Kang- That is the first logical explanation for this error I have ever read. Thank You. Desert- Yeah, it weighs 2.5 grams. typical for that year, correct?
