How come whenever you post here you have to post a picture of your Penny on a Dime? Your post speaks about the 1943 Bronze Cent, and that has nothing to do with your 1995 Penny on a Dime, which you put nearly completely in front of the article of the coin spoken of. Besides, you never actually found the Penny on a Dime in error-searching, which is what this thread is about, if you didn't notice; according to your eBay listing somebody gave it to you. I mean, you even put a photo of it in my Photo- shop contest. I am not trying to ruin the thread, I just think redwin117 is trying to promote his "unique" penny on a dime.
My great great grand father bought this over from Italy with him.I never noticed the clash till I was doing photos for my family coin collection.
1971-S DDO Lincoln Cent Proof After finding a 1970-s Proof Cent DDO yesterday in a box of 200+ proof cents , I started looking at some of the other dates and came across this 1971-S which shows doubling on the motto and liberty but I have been unable to locate documentation of this variety on any of the usual resource sites such as http://www.coppercoins.com/ nor http://www.lincolncentresource.net/. This looks very much like the pattern on the famous DDO but less extreme as if this was a LDS (Late Die State). Tell me what you think.
Look like you may have found one.:thumb: but I really can not tell unless I have the coin in hand&glove.
Jello, I think 1 of the reasons I stopped maniacally searching for errors and varieties was because I was mostly dealing with circulated coinage , which makes it difficult to be sure what you have or have not found. Now I will look at coins that are in AU or better grade so there can be little doubt and because my eyes have gotten really bad since I started collecting 1 year ago.
1964D Raised /Sunken Die Craters Kennedy Silver! Here's a set of my 1964 Kennedy Silver Accented Hair 1964D Raised/Sunken Die Craters & Ultimate heavy cameo 1964 on Airtite Holder.
Your 1964-D look like a very worn die strike. that why a MS-65 and above Kennedy cost so much they did not change dies to much. http://www.pcgs.com/PRICES/PriceGuideDetail.aspx?MS=1&PR=1&SP=1&c=125&title=Kennedy+Half+Dollar
:thumb: Nice 1964 Heavy hair accents/ extra hair Proof!!! here mine.it going back to Ngc be regraded. in hand it a PR-66 67 Cameo not a PR-65,the scratch is on the holder
According to the USPS grading guide as well as other reference books I have read. Errors should be searched with a 7x loupe. Errors requiring greater magnification are not considered significant. So I guess if you find something with a great magnification, PCGS or ANACS, Wexler, CONECA, etc. just might not recognize it ? Of course, if the TPGs won't certify it, can it be called an "error" ? I guess it all boils down to whether you are collecting it or putting them up for sale ? I know that I find things with my microscope that are there, but not enough to pay the $3-5 for certification. It hurts when they come back "DOA" and you know the error is there. IMHO gary
Picked this up in some change when buying beer. Have any of you seen anything like this for the same coin? Carlos
Looks like the coating they applied to the 2010 reacted with something. I am seeing a lot of wierd variations on 2010 cents I find in rolls. This is strange for a new coin I think. I blieve they are reacting with laundry detergents and fabric softeners ? Maybe the experts can tell us more ? gary
1) 1955 Poorman's DDO: Die erosion 2) 1971-- PMD 3) 1986 damage 4) 1990 either strike doubling or plating
carlos: either struck thru a ton of grease or possibly a set up strike, but then the obv and reverse should be equally weak
