So my question to you is whether the following are clips made at the mint or post-mint damage? 1. 1937 Wheat Cent Clip 2. 1941 Wheat Cent Clip 3. 1943 Wheat Cent Clip 4. 1943-S Mercury Dime potential clip but hard for me to tell
I do not see any that I would classify as a definite mint clip, the curvature and/or edge is not correct.
The first 2 look fine, but as for the others, they look like some kind of collar errors to me, but again, I'm no expert ...
Do you mind elaborating? I assume the curve should be equal to that of another coin of like radius/diameter?
I've been doing some research and everything I seen does look like clips http://www.ebay.com/gds/Coins-with-Clips-Incomplete-Planchet-/10000000176091153/g.html
So it appears I need to go grab another coin and measure them together to see if the clip matches the right curve. I will post my findings later today.
I've seen lots of post on cointalk were people think if a clip doesn't have the Blakesley Effect thats it's not a clip, well thats not true and jason write up proves that ....
Well either way, all of the 1 cent coins I have with clips match the curve of the cent. I'm going to place them back into my errors bin. Side note, do you mind looking at this link and telling me what you think of #1 and #4? I think #1 is a potential DDO and #4 is either die deterioration or struck through grease along with a die chip on the back. I'd appreciate your thoughts: https://www.cointalk.com/threads/pocket-change-finds-part-2.265847/
