Gil, Will try to get a few more on your list in the next few days. Also Gil this has been a lot of fun. Doug H.
Obviously, I love the Pupienus, dIhill132-------- I almost 'pulled the trigger' on a worn version for about $200.00 or so, but I just couldn't do it at the price and grade...maybe in a week or two if it's still available and the seller dropped the price a bit..

Thanks dlhill132.

Not to diminish Dhill's post, but keep in mind that the rarity rankings are for Imperial issues. A similar ranking for Provincials would look quite different.
Sorry Gil about the provincial, I was not thinking. This is the rest of my imperial. This thread was fun and thanks for allowing me to show some of my coins. No one really wanted to see these until I came here. Doug Hill
Well Dave, I not only wanted to see them....I'd welcome them for an extended stay at my house anytime Absolutely gorgeous examples of some very scarce and rare coins!! Congrats coin buddy!!
I totally agreed, dlhill => wow, those babies are amazing!! (congrats on an awesome collection) Curious, my coin-friend ... ummm, how many of the 207 ERIC-II rulers have you managed to collect? (any idea?) Cheers
dhill's Annia Faustina is a great coin but makes me want to warn anyone shopping for Provincials that might fill this rare number that there is a trap out there waiting for the unwary. The lady we know as Faustina II was actually named Annia Faustina and a few Provincial issues use ANNIA in the legends as seen here obverse left on this coin of Diocaesarea, Cilicia. It is a nice coin but it is NOT the lady in question. So true! The big ones would be Diadumenian and Tranquillina who are actually quite common on Provincials. Of course we would gain a few people who appear on Provincials but are not on Imperials at all but these are rare so people like me won't have them anyway.
Me either, but I think the Annia Faustine (not Faustina II) is not a purchase I will be looking to make for some time. That is, unless one falls into my lap by accident.
Amen to all of that guys!! I learn something new with Ancients literally every single day!! Thanks, TIF and DOUG!!
