Nice! Did you do this...Wilton or harbor freight vice? Looks like a 2002 LMC obverse to obverse and a LSC reverse to reverse. ;)

Genuine 2017 P Lincoln cent. Vice job as @Danomite said: (2002 LMC and unknown date of LSC).

I want to say fake because of the reversed lettering.
But I am wrong so often I am not even sure what shoe size I wear anymore.
So I have Coin Talk to thank for that.

The dates give it away. FAKE

Fake! Granted, the coins are 15 years apart, but if it was a "vice job" wouldn't the 2002 coin be recessed into the 2017? From the lighting on the 2002 date, it looks like it is raised. I think it was made in China. ~ Chris

I thought that at first too but as I looked at it more, there appears to be different shadowing on old Abe’s mop and the date.

    Genuine, Fake, or Altered Error?

Your title should state Genuine Error, Fake or Altered
No such thing as an Altered Error. It is either an Error or not an Error.. ;)

    It is a fake.

It also looks like the date is not lined up correctly with Lincoln on the 2002 part.

There are definitely altered errors. They are known as "enhanced" errors.

For example, taking a genuine off-center coin and squeezing it with another coin in a vise to give it a fake brockage. This is done to make an error more dramatic to bump up the selling price.

    That is an altered error.

My second post only had the link... I have poor service due to storms right now. Before the link I said any coin can be altered. It would only be a fake if it’s not a real coin. We live and die by definitions.:)

I made this myself. Squeezed between 2 other cents without damaging the rim.

    Scary, ain't it?

    ALTERED
