Picked up this very rare coin of Antoninus Pius at a good price taking in consideration the wear. The reverse depicts three temples the two outside are shown as a corner view in perspective and the centre one looks to be the temple of Artemis with statue of Diana/Artemis, and the distinctive rectangular opening in the pediment the two on the outside also have statues or people standing. As most of you probably know the temple of Artemis was rebuilt three times and each time it got rebuilt it became larger and more impressive, to be considered one of the seven wonders of the ancient world. Some of you coin lovers or history scholars might have some idea of what the other temples were on site and would love you to share any thoughts on it. Bronze coin

Ephesos, Ionia

Antoninus Pius T AIL KAISAR ANTWNEINOS Head of Antoninus Pius laureate r.

EFESIWN.
