Environmental damage of some sort

    Ive seen some strange colors but this one is wack! Some sort of PMD environmental damage. Looks like a white dog turd from 1979! Just to clarify, it didnt leave the mint like this! Copper is just one strange metal at times!

    Are you referring to the '21 or the '28? What does a '79 have to do with it?

    That 1921 has all the earmarks of being cleaned with a pencil eraser. I was quite guilty of polishing many a cent with an eraser as a lad.

    1979 has nothing to do with it at all...I was being an idiot and referring to white dog turds you used to see in the 70s that you just dont see or exist anymore. Its about the color of the 21 and I only put the other penny there to contrast how white it was. Im thinking some sort of long term slooooow acid or something.

    The 21 looks like it soaked in salt and vinegar?

    Like @Randy Abercrombie said, kids many decades ago used to use pencil erasers to clean coins. Try it on a junk coin to see what we mean.

    Ive seen cleaned with acid but never this white! This sucker is freaky pale!
