The first post had both obverses and reverses showing. Here are the other sides of the 28 (soon to be 29) coins:
Wonderful beauties. Thanks for sharing the reverses. The Velia with the Lion reverse is the one I eye the most.
Go Big or Go Home............you ain't going home anytime soon. The Lokris reverse........... it's a killer
Nice. I am always a big fan of the animals, particularly bulls, horses, and eagles (none that I see)... and your stalking lion is nice.
I looked a little closer this time and noticed that many of these lovely coins also have great old provenances. Magnaguti, Gillet, etc. Really, a terrific collection.
I store my coins in trays and I store them with the "best" side down so when I turn them over I am pleasantly surprised, you unfortunately cant do that because the reverses are just as interesting and awesome as the obverse.
Thanks, Ancientnoob, but I'm afraid there are several coins where that isn't the case: Tarentum, coin 2: Reverse = wheel with 4 spokes, Metapontum, coins 8 and 9: Reverse = wheat ear, and especially Kyzikos EL staters, coins 28 and 29: Reverse = quadripartite incuse square!
