    The desire for money to buy coins more closely aligned with my overarching collecting theme led me to consign three nice ancients to CNG. Ending tomorrow 6/9/21...

    GAUL, Vienna. Octavian, with Divus Julius Caesar. Circa 36 BC. Æ Halved Dupondius – As (28mm, 7.12 g, 12h). Bare heads of Divus Julius Caesar left [and Augustus right], back to back / Prow of galley, with multi-tier superstructure, right. RPC I 517; RIC I 158. Dark green patina, traces of earthen deposits. VF.

Bare head of Pompey the Great right; capis to left, lituus to right / Neptune standing left, holding apluster and resting foot on prow between the Catanaean brothers Anapias and Amphinomus running in opposite directions, bearing their parents on their shoulders. Crawford 511/3a; CRI 334; Sydenham 1344; RSC 17 (Pompey the Great); RBW 1785. Toned, obverse banker’s mark, scratches. VF.

Bare head of Mark Antony right / Bare head of Octavian right. Crawford 517/2; CRI 243; Sydenham 1181; RSC 8; RBW 1798 var. (Octavian with slight beard). Toned, bankers’ marks, light scratches and marks. Good Fine.
