Because the Coin World article said the Mint schedule was wrong and that it would be a medal. I supposed they checked with someone at the Mint before saying the schedule was wrong. I could be giving them too much credit. I have also seen two versions of the coin world story, one saying it was a silver eagle, and one saying it wasn't. I don't know which version came first or if one was a correction of the other

It definitely is not a metal, but it is metal and certainly not a medal. ;)

We can all be freinds. But you need to start your own unique separate thread. Try the Error Coins forum of CoinTalk. You MUST include pictures!

FYI - Posting on a thread as you did on this one is considered hijacking. When you create your own thread we will definitely see it. No need to hijack.

@dwhiz; @Conder101 I sent an email to the editor of Coin World. His reply states that the Mint confirmed that IT WILL BE A COIN.
It's not considered a commemorative. Just a proof SAE with the privy mark on it.

The US Mint is commemorating the "End of WWII" but it's not a commemorative coin?

The idea that no one in Congress or the Mint demanded a WWII commemorative is an outrage.

That coin was done as a 50c, $1, and $5 comm. in 1993, marking the 50th aniv. of WW2.

I quit collecting these commemoratives about 2 years ago. They are putting too many out there.

My answer is "no." If they want to commemorate World War II, they should do it with a real coin, like they did in 1995.
