picked this one up this evening at my sons house, the mail out here is the worst !! That would be the mail forwarding 2013 $1 Maleficent/ Prince Phillip and Aurora block A DIS161 / 2-65 5-64 none higher, total graded 7 When i first saw this note i was real excited the front looks exceptional however The back the margin isnt the best but there is such a low total i may send it in to PMG anyway
Looks to me like the reverse margins are a little smaller on the bottom of the bill than the top. Not by much, but it's just a tad. Have you noticed that even the $1 ungraded bills on Ebay are asking higher prices now than they were about a month ago? I bought a lot of mine right after the announcement they weren't making them anymore, then concentrated on Ariels and 5s and 10s more than the ones. Now I think some people are listing too high and besides, I like to "snipe" at the last second if I see something I really like.
yeah its a crazy market right now but because its Disney related i think it will last whats more popular then Mickey Mouse ! also i noticed many people are not showing the back of the notes, i think its because of poor margins on the back i have seen many with a thin line for a boarder and almost a 1/4 inch on top 62 or 63 Yuk !! those grades have major issues and i dont care to much for 65,s either usually a rough margin alignment actually 64,s i think are much more attractive and more pleasing to the eye !, iam waiting for one more note before i send my lot in to PMG, have a real nice one to post later today !
Good luck on sending them in. Mine have been sitting there for 3 weeks and still only show received. I have some Thai notes that have been there since 6-10 and scheduled for grading for over 2 weeks and still haven't been done. It's probably the same old thing....they say they do them in order they come in, but I am sure, like NGC, the biggest customers have priority over the little guys when it comes to grading, especially with ANA coming up. It kind of sucks because I'd like to get them back and start listing them. I have been watching the finished auctions of graded Disney notes that are auctioned and not buy it now to see how the different grades are selling. I do agree that some people post lousy pictures or only one side. If I can't see both sides I won't follow the note or bid on it. Not all mine are perfect but certain ones I sure want the best margins I can get to hopefully get high grades. It will be interesting to see how PMG compares to PCGS in terms of grading the notes. I also do not like the looks of the PCGS labels and prefer PMG's. I'd sure love to score a few $50 notes but I am not going to pay the highway robbery prices people want for them.
It's really no different than trading in your cash at a casino for gaming chips. Some people even use them to pay their taxi fares in Las Vegas (although I've heard casinos frown on this). As long as the notes are not too similar to official government currency, there shouldn't be an issue taken with them.
Oh i know the drill alright i have been with PCGS for 15 plus years and got several hundred MPC graded so i know your frustration ! best bet is to send it separate batches of notes a week or so apart so you have a constant flow when they say Economy special there not kidding, PMG only does this at a couple shows but PCGS does this at every show, on site grading $25 and you get it back the next day i do this at the Long Beach show in California, PMG only accepts the submission and do not grade them on site at this show
As i said previously, i have been waiting on some forwarded mail and got about 25 packages in today, this is one of them a very rare 2007 $5 Aurora Block "T" in PMG 66EPQ #T00149360 DIS132 PMG POP REPORT (total graded) 3 2-66EPQ 1-64EPQ Got this note for under $95, i call that a Home Run
I just got an email from PMG advising me that the encapsulation people are WAY BEHIND in getting the bills done and that's why my Thai bills are going so slow. Next up should be my Disney bills which, with the way it looks like they are going, I won't see until either the end of this month or early August...just when we go to ANA. Oh, well. I won't pay extra to have stuff graded at shows. I think it's a waste of money unless it's something spectacular that I can flip right away. I might submit them but that's to save postage mailing them in...lol.
I really wish they graded at the Long Beach show like PCGS it would be so much better not to wait an eternity for your notes to get back but it is what it is, i just got the last note that i was waiting for in last nights mail, i have six that im going to send in right away but there all cross overs from PCGS and there all MPC, considering sending in my top 2 or 3 candidates on the Disney dollar side as well we be posting some more examples later today along with the ones i chose
Got this one for under the cost to grade it ! so thats always a good thing this particular note 2005 $1 Dumbo (Disney World) w/ bar code on back block D
I saw tonight that my first submission of Disney notes are scheduled for grading finally. I was also told again today in talking to someone about registry entries that encapsulation is very, very backed up!! One can only hope that they get some help there since they seem to have the money rolling into their bank account.
Yeah i hear that ! I,m still trying to decide weather or not i will make the trip to the ANA in Anaheim, i have talked to PMG reps regarding grading procedures, it starts On Tuesday the 9th and runs to the 13th the main problem is i can get there until Friday and they tell me there is no guarantee that they would get to them depending on how many submissions they have also i asked if i could send them directly to the convention center and thats a no go so basically what im left with is sending them it and having wait but im still finding some awesome deals with Good flip opportunities on line
Speaking of the above, here,s a great one i just picked up: 2008 $10 Mickey 80th Anniversary Block T #T00216228 PMG (DIS145) Population: (7) 5-66 1-65 1-58
So, correct me if I'm wrong here..... But isn't it a tad early to high five and congratulate each other when you grade a note that's 1/7 or 1/3 Etc etc... if/when these notes start to bring moon money, won't there be droves of people submitting them to Pmg/Pcgs?? I would think that most of these notes had a high print run, no?
I agree, especially since there are probably thousands of souvenirs in the hands of non-collectors. On the other hand, there are people who live and die by the TPG pop reports. All they know is the number on the plastic and the number on the pop report. Don't bother them with details.
Yes, I am sure there are plenty of submissions to the TPGs that started as soon as Disney said they were not making them anymore. But you have to remember, there are a zillion Disney collectors out there that go gaga over Disney stuff. Some graded notes do well, some don't. Just depends on who is bidding at what time, just like with any other graded currency unless it's super rare. They key is to have bought early. Now prices on ebay are higher for most any $1 Disney bill and some way overpriced but that's the name of the game. My latest pickup that came in the mail today.
Depends on which notes, series and years you are talking about? in the MPC world production Varied greatly for example: in 1965 from 8/31 to 10/21 they printed 20,400,000 $10 notes (Series 641) by comparison 1969 from 8/11 to 10/7.1970 they only printed 3,200,000 (Series 681) ( Fred Schwan, Comprehensive Catalog Military Payment Certificates) With anything else less production and higher grade means greater value to go one step further to prove the point i recently sold a Series 641 $10 note in PCGS 68PPQ to a collector and it is the top one at PCGS the one and only 68 !! i sold that for $2,900 dollars two weeks ago, that note in raw form uncirculated with good margins is worth right around $250 Dont know about droves of people but it does take a little skill on what should be graded and not, i have been doing MPC for over 20 years and have some of The nicest stuff around another example of what im talking about this note Series 681 $10 in PCGS 69PPQ is worth about $5,500 again population of 1 and none higher at PCGS or PMG again proving the point of population and value there 16,200,000 less of the Series 681 over the Series 641 Graded Disney Dollars population plus grade matters regardless of how many people Are submitting
Well i like the details, i know your not a fan TPG but dont put down the people that Are, in grading, everything is subjective, you can have the same note with ten different opinions, submitting and getting the motes graded by experts takes any doubt away
to address the population issues of raw Disney Dollars, i,m trying to find some kind of resource guide or something online which can give production numbers but until Then the best way to find out if your note is on the rare side at least in production Number just take a look at the serial number example: 2013 Villains and Heros run was short by Disney standards only has 6-digit serial number (so assumed population is low) 2003 dumbo series $1 7-digit serial number (so assumed population would be more) 2007 Aurora $5 8-digit serial number (assumed population would be allot more) so in doubt just take a look at the serial number, low numbers always demand more When making a purchase you can use this along with your other tools to make a More informed decision but not the only one
