<p>[QUOTE=&quot;as219, post: 2610306, member: 24126&quot;]An update</p><p><br /></p><p><br /></p><p>An Update:&nbsp; After more than 15 years of hunting for this book...I finally located and purchased a copy of <i>&#039;Al-Bank, Al-Ahli, Al-Misri 1898-1998</i>.&nbsp; This has to rank as one of my greatest banknote finds.&nbsp; Some library in the north of England sold it off to a reseller, who listed it on a site where I had an alert set up.&nbsp; After several weeks of nervous waiting as it crossed the Atlantic, thinking it might have been safer if I had flown over there to pick it up in person...Boom!&nbsp; It&#039;s in my possession!!&nbsp; The cover is a little beaten, and some of the pages are a little wavy...but under the circumstances, it&#039;s perfect, just <i>perfect</i>.&nbsp; It&#039;s hand-signed by the author and hand-numbered as copy 985 of 999, and quite obviously a labor of love by the author.&nbsp; It&#039;s hand-bound and most likely the dozens of photographic reproductions were hand-mounted.&nbsp; Obviously it&#039;s one of a very few copies that went to libraries as opposed to VIPs.&nbsp; Why any library would have let this go is a mystery to me.&nbsp; All of the other copies I&#039;ve been able to locate are all in rare book depositories of Ivy League schools or in Egyptian libraries, and I can&#039;t imagine any of them would sell their copies for pennies.&nbsp; It is surely the definitive work on the history of the National Bank of Egypt and of paper money in Egypt.&nbsp; If anyone is interested, and I can figure out how to do it, I&#039;ll post some photos.</p><p><br /></p><p>I have bagged the Great White Whale of books on Egyptian paper money!&nbsp; <img src="styles/default/xenforo/clear.png" class="mceSmilieSprite mceSmilie50" alt=":happy:" unselectable="on" unselectable="on" /><img src="styles/default/xenforo/clear.png" class="mceSmilieSprite mceSmilie50" alt=":happy:" unselectable="on" unselectable="on" /><img src="styles/default/xenforo/clear.png" class="mceSmilieSprite mceSmilie50" alt=":happy:" unselectable="on" unselectable="on" />[/QUOTE]</p><p><br /></p>
