Lucky penny looks fake but couldnt find any info on this piece some that look like it but not this one
Normally no. But maybe it's made of plastic, or a cheaper metal? You can see the face of Lincoln looks flattened, and the details aren't right. In the front, it says "In God We Trusi" also, on the back, Lincoln isn't sitting in in the middle of the memorial building. Another thing, look at Lincolns hair. The details of it are way off. And then, the stairs are gone and the last letter of America on the reverse is off. Looks like a fake to me.
No FG initials...souvenir, promotion item intentionally made this way to avoid any liabilities...such as counterfeiting....
I grant you that the cent doesn't look like others, but why would they bother to reproduce it when it's just a cent? Is it possible the token was also stamped facsimiles with the with the token? Is it really two separate pieces?
I believe the cent is a fake. The key chain is made in China. Here it is for sale (or one extremely similar) http://www.best-keychain.com/html_products/souvenir-gold-luck-penny-las-vegas-keychain.html
Lawtoad, great research....museum of science and industry in Chicago had a machine that would punch these out on site...senior memory moment....
Look at the Obverse and Reverse really good.. That is not a real US Minted Cent. Interesting souvenir! Look at that Memorial Building and the word AMERICA
Sorry, I should have been more explicit in my comment. I was merely pointing out that it made no sense to counterfeit this penny since it was so common, but my comment had nothing to do with whether or not it was real. ~ Chris
You'd think though that all they would have had to do was exchange money with a bank in China, or as with the Chinese, the reproduction was cheaper than 1c to make! Wonder what the composition is made of.
I know the guy who makes this. His girlfriend's name is ERICA. And that's why he couldn't use a real penny. He needed one where the "AM" in America is smaller than the "ERICA."
