I have been sitting here all evening combining my obverse and reverse photos into a single side by side photo. Not sure why I never thought of doing this until discovering Coin Talk. I also need to take new photos of most of my coins using my new camera set up and Doug Smith supplied knowledge.
Welcome to the club. Doug Smith supplied knowledge has led many of us to reassess our coin images and start over from scratch, lol.
I feel like I have finally started to be able to create the images of my coins I have always wanted. In the 1980s I used a black and white copy machine to scan coins. Yuck. Never could afford the 35mm film camera needed until way later and then still not great luck. I bought the Hoberman book on coin photography in London in 1987 and just shook my head at what he did with extensible bellows and large format Hasselblad's. He would unplug his refrigerator while shooting to minimize vibration! Color copiers and scanners in the 1990s did an ok job. I thought I was making progress when I got my smartphone. Now I am using a copy stand, Sony A6000, extender ring, LED light ring, LED lamps, and still have a long way to go. I suppose it never ends, which is ok with me.
As it should be. Post more pictures. Part of me wants to rephotograph my coins but I fear I would fail to do as well the next time and would be depressed.
Those are just amazing Steve! I am in awe of the second to last one. The pattern is so perfect and the design with the horse raising his leg has a sense of action and motion you don't see on many coins.
Thanks, Theodosius => I love that coin too (it made my Top-20) https://www.cointalk.com/threads/ancients-great-skot-nice-hat.256786/ ... above, is the link to it's thread (yah, I absolutely love that coin)
