Did you capture all those specimens or are they traded, just like coins? Either way, that is an outstanding collection. I dabbled a bit with capturing butterflies when I was much younger, but most of the time, I ended up capturing moths

To tell the absolute truth....I bought all of my 12,000+specimens from insect fairs/dealers/auctions. Just like with coins/banknotes....I always wanted top AI quality specimens/perfectly mounted.

I'm Lepidopterophobic, which means I'm scared of butterflies. I'm actually terrified of most flying insects. I know, seems silly, especially considering I actually like lizards and mice, and most other creatures your average person would be terrified of. I can't explain it, but something about flying insects just gets to me. My brain sees a snake or a big lizard, or a rodent, and says cool! But if I see a flying insect my brain freaks out.

Nice bugs, I guess, but even though they are dead @panzerman seeing your collection almost makes me break into a bit of a sweat and makes me a little nauseous.

    Great coins, panzerman, TIF.
Here in Ukraine we have a lot of this coins at the market, sometimes very beautiful. They are a good low budget alternative to the roman aurei IMHO. At any way this is very interesting chance to buy a true ancient gold (or electrum) coin with the portrait of Roman Emperor. This coins in general not so artistic as genuine roman aureus, sometimes even crude, but they have a very specific charming at any way.

I have bought my Bosporan stater 2 weeks ago and have to post it at Hadrian thread. I'll repost it here again. This is a Sauromat I true AV stater with Hadrian portrait. 120 AD. This one a real fine style for bosporan staters and in very good condition, that is why I have bought it. But I even can not imagine that when it obtained in hands, this one have some kind of magic in same level with the best ancients and it's really stylish by it's own kind of style.
