I have been waching this thread but I got to say this has to be a fake...there is no way it is pure gold and since it weighs too much I would say it is a fake made outside the mint....I guess if I were you I would send it to ANACS to make sure.

Well we're just going over in another thread about how the 3rd party companies can screw up and what have you...How can any of us be sure it isnt gold though since none of us except Spider has physicially seen it?

ill get more pics. tell me the angles and sides u want to see. its a confusing coin. Would a local dealer know what it is? or something to tell me

Just good clear ones of the front and back would be good. I don't think a dealer would be able to properly diagnose it. You need an optimist like me to look at it...

I know grading Co. can mess up but I don't think it happens to offen--
And your right...we can't know about it with out it being in our hand to some extent but I'm 99.999999999 that is has to be a fake...as a CT member said...if it was gold it would weigh a LOT more...

Nobody knows yet what this is....we can only guess--I think a grading Co. that has experts can be better at that then I ever will be....in fact...I just had a good friend get a job at a top 4 grading Co.

Putting it next to another one would be okay. Well speedy you must take in my factor of the possibility its core is not gold. Perhaps aluminum? If it is a fake as you suggest then why bother paying to send it to a grading company just to confirm it is a fake?

Finally caught! Now you know what I did when they told me I had to work overtime on a week end. Gosh, that was a long time ago, and I never expected the gold plating to last that long. It only took me a minute or so to have it plated. Heck! While I was at it, I even cad plated a couple. Have you foung them yet?

hmmmmmmmm, since i have to talk smart with olddan here we go:
your statement revealed a very sarcatic statement in which u declared to have plated my coin a very long time ago durring a long day at work.

If you actually have input to my situation i would glady accecpt your guidence and would thankly appreciate it

Don't worry about OldDan Spider - the folks that really know him call him the Old Grouch; but in a freindly voice :D

He's actually one of the most knoweldgeable collectors I know - he just likes to give folks a hard time - especially me ;)

If you just take some of his comments with a grain of salt - he could help you a lot with information. Trust me on that !

As I represent Spider here with this case I must say that OldDan's comment was not in Spider's best interests and does not help one way or another with the coin in question. I have and am maintaining faith that it is a very rare coin minted from almost pure gold.

The weight really has me stumped. Do you have another Ike dollar you could weigh and see if the weights match? You mentioned a balance scale. Could you weigh your gold Ike against a regular Ike? Gotta have some testing done here. It is about as likely to be a quarter ounce too heavy as it is to be solid gold.

Another question. Would a coating of gold, mercury, or anything else add 7-8 grams to the weight? Seems the weight of the coating would be insignificant.

Again this added mystery weight only goes to help prove my very sound theory it is indeed made from a high percentage of solid pure gold. Spider may be able to pay for his retirement before he even starts working!

Nos i respect your knowledge and wishfully agree with u, but that is very very (second very there important) unlikely, i just wish oldDan was serious

I have already posted, about weighing a regular ike and it was .1 off only, and i used 2 scales so its not the scales but the coin
