I am still confident and holding out that it may be a super rare pure gold coin. Spider will find out once he gets it weighed at school.

Well NOS, lets settle this then. Since you think it is a rare mint error or something similar, pay spider the money to send it to ANACS.

Get some acetone soak the coin in it for a week to remove the gold plating. Then spend it because this is sad someone would ruin such a beautiful coin. :(

Could have been coated with mercury. That will tarnish to a grungy gold color. Does it feel a little slimy?

Well now you've presented a problem with that weight - can you measure the diameter ?

These are the correct specifications -

    SPECIFICATIONS:

    Diameter: 38.1 millimeters

    Weight: 24.59 grams (silver-clad)
Composition: .800 silver, .200 copper bonded to .209 silver, .791 copper
Net Weight: .3161 ounce pure silver

Weight: 22.68 grams (CuNi-clad)Composition: .750 copper, .250 nickel bonded to pure copper

    Edge: Reeded

it is 37 mm across, and ridged edges
    not slimy

or 38 mm, hard to measure, hard to find centers

OK - so the diameter is the correct size but the weight is a 1/4 oz too heavy - or your scale was off. I doubt it was the scale. For the plating to be that heavy, it's thickness would fill in the smaller details of the coin. And it does not appear in the pics that it has done this. This makes me think you have a replica - not even a plated coin.

Hello guys!!!!!!!!! This helps prove our idea that it is possibly a PURE GOLD coin! Why have you people not even acknowledged this possibility? Instead you immediately say it is fake or something else is wrong! He may have a $1,000,000 coin there!

If you would work a little bit on your education regarding coins instead of dreaming about pie in the sky you'd know why that statement sounds so ludicrous. You see - if the coin was solid gold and had a diameter of 38mm - it would weigh a heck of a lot more.

Well maybe the core is tin or some other light metal! Maybe a very high ranking mint official had the whole planchet made specially this!

I am fully optimistic at his coin being made out of a sound amount of gold. I really am. Could be a one of a kind $1,500,000.00 rarity!!!!!!!

Spider, would you be willing to sell the coin to NOS for $10,000 ?
