I ask my local bank for odd coins, and just got a 1972 Ike. I was going to use it to pay a tip sometime. Are they worth keeping?

I got an SBA in change the other day (from a metrocard machine), and put it in my pocket. I couldn't find it, because it looked to much like a quarter. This had never happened before. Then I spent it, I got into a fight with the proprieter because he thought I had underpaid. At least Ikes and Sacs are easy to find in your pocket.

If you are near a retiree community, you get elderly people to turn in coins to the bank for cash. If you make friends with your bank teller, you may be able to get them to place coins aside for you. I have sucess with this. Typically, the bank you already do business with. One perk to doing business in person.

i bought 200 pc of ike dollar at $1.20 two years ago. if i buy more than 500 pc. it cost $1.15. and their buying price is $1.10 each. which is not bad. don't need to beg from banks. all coins were xf 40 to au 55. i also keep 200 pc susie. those were also xf 40 to au 55. i do have 8,000 pc of prez unc dollars. i might flood the whole town here.

If anyone is in NJ, there is a bank I just visited that had about $120 in old, Big dollar's. So assuming Ike's. loose. From what the bank manager told me, it is a woman that searches through coins and rolls. Bank of America in East brunswick, nj.

Its not to hard to establish a good relationship with a teller. I have a teller at my local Wells Fargo call me whenever she receives any dollar coins or any halves.

She also calls to see what time he'll pick her up at. It's easy to score some finds if you're dating the teller ;)

Ahahahah Would it be unethical to date a teller for a few months just for those perks  haha JK. That must be nice though. :thumb:

If you're going to let her go, let her go easy. She won't suspect that you're using her to feed your coin/currency collecting addiction.

Teller gave my kids 15 in ikes last week, and over the past year probably has sold me 25 or so. Nothing amazing, but I thinks it's fun to pay the kids allowance in Ikes.
