Eisenhower dollar, can anyone explain this?

The funny mint letters and the shadow on the forehead.

 

Easily explained - they're normal.

 

The first coin is a 1978-D and then it looks like the next coin is a 1974-D.
Mint marks get smushed. It happens.

Done, looking for repeatable personnel with knowledge on Coins.

 

I belong to some other forums as well. Trust me, if you start to question responses to coins with obvious damage, you'll realize that CT really is the best place for a new collector to learn about coins. Best of luck elsewhere
