I've seen a ton of Septimius Denarii portraits but, this is a very pleasant expression. Generally he looks slightly surprised or just a dead eyed stoic - here he actually looks optimistic like perhaps Caracalla and Geta might get over their youthful differences....Very Human. Kinda Sad....

I have said for years that the next Roman mini-series should be the life of Julia Maesa. She saw her sister Domna be Augusta under Septimius (season one), watched the Caracalla/Geta time thru to the time of Macrinus (season 2), took over as puppetmaster for the grandson who even HBO would have to tame a bit (season 3) and changed grandsons when the first proved too much for the real world (season 4). Instead they keep beating the old Commodus/Caligula stories to death when there are so many, many more.
