Man, Britania 's have some of the best designs. I have a complete type set of all of the designs, and am going for a complete date set eventually.

I wish they would do something similar with the ASE's, retire the walker design and create a new liberty design every year or two.

Please note that i LOVE the walker design, one of my all time favorites. It is getting a little long in the tooth though :)

as an aside, the main reason i am getting the anniversary ASE set is for the "Reverse proof"... it looks just like the Britanias! ;)

The letter I got the britannia in today...has 16 stamps on it. 11 of them different.

I too collect stamps, but only really off the envelopes I get my coins in.

    I've never bought a stamp.

I have a little baggy with about 30 stamps in it, and some on first day coin covers.

I have a 1999 total eclipse coin folder, with 12 stamps on it I think, 4 of them stamped on Aug 11th 1999, the day of the total eclipse.

Anyone notice the proof Britannias has low mintages, the 2001 I got today has a mintage of 15,000 according to the certificate.

According to Chard the 2005 proof britannia has a tiny mintage of only 2,500 :eat:

I found an 1561 Elizabeth I silver sixpence in a junk shop the other day, great condition, the guy there said he dug it up himself.
    I got it for a fantastic £18
    Very clear portrait and date.

An old hammered german one...I will need you lot to identify it for me some time.

I also got a big bronze roman one, also needs identifying.

I've lost the net at home thought for a few weeks.

Here is the elizabeth I sixpence?

or is it a penny....they all look the same to me.

Eddy, the sixpence was about the size of a US nickel and the penny is US quarter size..easy to tell if you know that.It looks to me to be a 6p.The pennies I own do not have the Tudor rose behind her portrait. Here is another 1561 sixpence for comparison.

It's a penny...tis bigger than a nickel, and pretty much spot on quarter size.

    Thanks for the help.

Sorry eddy,I edited my post and got my sizes wrong.A penny from Elizabeth is the size of a Dime (or a wee bit smaller) and a sixpence is the same as a Quarter. You have a sixpence for sure.
Here's mine and the orange container it's in is for US Quarters.

    Good good.

For some reason I'd rather it have been a sixpence than a penny.

I got this today for £2.50, which I assume is good?

It looks more worn in the webcam pic than it does in real life, also the image is reversed.

George III 1818 Crown, which I would grade at VF-20

Since my last update I have gotten...

Numerous East Carribean state coins...Inc. my first 'square' coins.

My first GOLD Coin a 1996 double sovereign.

And today in change I got an Isle of Man 20 pence coin with a picture of a monk I assume writing something with the heading 'Rushen Abbey'

A few days ago I got back from 2 months in the USA, back with me I bought a few coins.

    a...

    1934 Buffalo Nickel VF - $2.50

    1907 Indian Head Cent XF - $7

    1920 Standing Liverty Quarter AU - $100

I spent most of my time in Reno, and filled up another state quarter set with quarters from the slot machines.

    The 1920 quarter is actually the 2nd one I bought...the 1st one I bought was a 1929 XF version.
    But I lost it

    As mentioned above...

    [IMG][IMG]
    Replacement Walking Liberty Quarter 1920
    $118

    [IMG][IMG]
    Original 1929-S
1929-S with a mintage of 1.764million has the 6th lowest mintage of the 33 different types of standing liberty quarters.
    $16

After the post I made above I recieved an email from a friend of mine in the USA, he had found my coin 2 weeks after I had left. It was behind the microwave he said.
Anyhoo, he sent it to me in the post.
It was amazing being reunited with it again, I hadn't of lost it I would never have bought the 1920 one.

    [IMG][IMG]
