Yes. I did the whole "contact seller" thing through eBay, which unfortunately, ended up opening a case, etc. He had written back that I could return it if I paid postage, etc. That's when I posted here.
I believe the OP said the sellers terms listed he had to pay for shipping it back, not the seller. That is why he was asking the question here. I agree maybe a quick email to the seller might have been in order, but he wasn't venting here for no reason. He was asking us what we thought of this sellers terms.
Op. first thing you should always do is contact the seller and wait for their answer/reply. Then if you don't get satisfactory results then ask for opines
There you go... Even if the seller's terms stated that the buyer is to pay for return shipping, chances are that this was not meant for a situation such as this, but for the much more likely scenario of a regular return on an item, for whatever reason, not wanted. It's always best to give the benefit of the doubt before jumping to conclusions as even with all the problems with/on ebay, I'd like to think most are decent people and will follow the golden rule.
I would tell him he needs to cover shipping both ways, or you will have to open a case against him. This gives him the opportunity to fix it, but covers you if he doesn't. Do not threaten a negative or neutral, as ebay will remove it if you do that. You can hint at it though, saying you hope you can leave good feedback.
Not so. I submitted a claim for not as described and also sent a note to seller asking for return postage charges. Neither happened. I got my original cost of coin plus his shipping charges and E-Bay automatically closed the case. Dave
