I've got a picture of some ocean front property in Arizona for sale. $.50 sq. in. More you bid, bigger the picture you get.
I just started the claim with ebay. The lady on the phone indicated that if the seller failed to make it right with me after 3 days then when I contact eBay again they will refund. She agreed with me that the listing was not appropriate.
Wow, interesting. What a way to destroy a seller account. I did see that the category is listed as Posters, but obviously the Listing title and images are highly deceptive. I never pay attention to the category anyway, just use search.
If I understand correctly from the other threads, this was a $200-300K operation, adding up all the bogus auctions. That should be big enough to get some wider media attention.
What a sleazeball , man I hate reading small print . Hope you get your money back as quickly as possible .
Yeah, that really sucks. He's fooled many people by wording that it's a poster in the subliminal manner he used, straight up bs. With so much verbiage going on in the beginning it was a tricky situation to start with. Good luck with that can of worms Matt!!
I hope they don't make a dime , They deserve jail time and a felony . But if they broke no laws maybe it'll attract the attention to these scams and make them illegal .
Update: Ebay closed the case today and refunded me. Quickest I've ever seen them do that. I'm guessing they are bringing the hammer down on this guy.
These hackers know how to get around security . Sure wish they'd use that knowledge for some good , but as hackers I hope there fingers fall off .
Looks to me like the account was hijacked or something financially happened to the seller. If you look at the feedback it was all good until this last month and then every single one was negative. If the account actually was hijacked then this is alarming and concerns me and should concern every seller on ebay. Keep your accounts safe and log on at least once a week. If you see something strange then report it, change your password but also change your password for your email account. Otherwise if the hackers somehow also got in to your email then they can just get in and reset your password. Might want to reset your PayPal password as well.
Account hijacking is not that uncommon. One or two of my auction "wins" gone bad have been because of hijacked accounts, and I've reported numerous others. For a while, I saw a pattern: someone with great feedback would suddenly list a lot of five MS70 gold Buffalos or AGEs at just under melt. When I went to check their feedback, I'd see that they hadn't had any activity in a year or so. There were several slab cert #'s that showed up repeatedly in the auctions. That was back when eBay still accepted direct reports on coin auctions, and so the auctions got swatted pretty quickly.
Read this thread yesterday and saw this story just now .... coincidence?? http://metro.co.uk/2015/02/04/man-orders-laptop-on-ebay-and-gets-a-photocopy-of-it-instead-5049367/ Who are these people?
Guess they need a new 'unknown to the masses' scam to do.... I saw that news item too about the guy with the laptop and immediately thought of this thread. Glad you got your money back.
