I used PayPal long before the eBay merge... they use to have a "positive transaction" system similar to eBay, where a seller was awarded one point for every successful sale. I think I had approximately 70 positives before that was discontinued. But I don't recall PayPal ever putting a hold on my funds for any reason. Maybe I was "grandfathered" in. :)

You were same as I was about two years ago eBay went to the hold on new sellers because they were losing too much money to scam artist coming on under several different accounts to sell gold and taking the money and running. They actually prosecuted one guy for stealing several hundred thousand dollars.
Now they hold the funds on new sellers in case Buyer protection is needed.

If the transaction doesn't show as present in your account possibly being held but it would be present and you could see it then the buyer hasn't paid yet simple as that. No transaction present or visible and it sounds like they are trying to get you to ship without paying i.e. scam you.

Must mean you are the lucky one!

Yes, If you received the payment, it will show in your balance but it will give you this message. Otherwise you did not receive any money.

Nor have I ever seen that before. They have never put anything on hold for me save one time someone had a problem with their account and filed with their CC. (Never heard for sure, but suspect someone else was using their account.) As soon as I showed them that I sent it with PayPal shipping and confirmation, they released the money because it was under their protection program. I never heard if eBay recovered the money or not.

Never saw that one before Cazka. And like I said before (and before), PayPal has never held a single cent for a single minute.

I think they look at your selling habits as well. They put a hold on my funds once because I sold several high dollar items. Before that I was only selling items worth a few dollars. The money was in my account but I could not move it. After a week or so the hold was removed.

paypal had held my payments from buyers up to 21 days. They say they do this for new sellers. I have written twice to paypal asking them to release my funds. I've done all they asked, provided tracking numbers etc, and in most cases have received positive feedback and emails from my customers that they got their items. Paypal STILL has held my money for almost a month. However the times I did write and complain, my funds were released within 24 hours. This is the main reason I rarely sell on ebay. Paypal holds money hostage, even long after the buyer receives their items. For me it's a real hassle. On top of that i have 100% positive feedback on ebay.

I've been a verified Ebay and Paypal customer for almost 10 years and they still hold my funds for a short amount of time, but it always shows paid in the summaries.

I use paypal a lot through various forums and whether buying/selling they never hold those funds. But anytime I sell something on Ebay, especially after not selling something for a few weeks/months they sometimes place a random hold on certain funds. No rhyme or reason as they don't hold them all from Ebay sales and there has been instances where they've placed a hold on like ten bucks and let another sale over a few hundred dollars slide through.
