The problem is the emails. If you take the time to read them you will see that there appears to be a lot of contradicting statements.

I've read the entire thread, albeit in several sittings. Perhaps I am a complete and total jerk, but I think negative feedback is warranted in this situation.

Honestly I'd be as ripped as Vic. I intend that the coin in the picture is the coin I'm buying unless specifically specified otherwise. From every seller I've bought from this has been the case and I've never had cause to return a coin. Some I wasn't thrlled with but never was I horrified or received something that didn't match the image at all. But that's cause of where and who I do business with. Other then sellers I trust and respect and know. I only buy coins In hand otherwise

To be contrary, I would have moved on 'pages' ago. What a bore this thread has been.......

The seller was wrong, and perhaps does deserve a negative, but the buyer sure didn't help the situation.

Does this mean you read my email posts or rant now? The way I see it the guy at best was a very incompetent coin dealer and at worst a lier. I had every right to get mad after buying his coin when I looked at the other listings and realized how many rules he was breaking. It was a crystal clear fact he was going to send the wrong coin (intentionally?) and so I tried to get the guy not to send it. I firmly believe that if my email didn't stop him then none would.

It is not my responsibility to police someone's listings and look over every pic and quote on every item they are selling before buying one item. The rules are quite simple and strongly enforced. I did nothing wrong as a buyer.

"But the buyer sure didn't help the situation". He sent the coin and was going to send it no matter what. Nothing I said stopped that. So unless your argument is "pretty please with sugar on top don't send the wrong coin mister" I did nothing that would affect the situation. He violated the rules and not only had to take back the coin but eBay would have made him pay shipping. There was no change in outcome created by the buyer. My statements did not in any way affect the transaction as he was going to send the coin and hope for the best no matter what, and nothing I did say would invalidate the eBay money back guarantee . So I actually had no impact what so ever.

What does help a situation is first clearly reading what someone posts prior to using words like "jerk".

I agree. Anyone who uses a photo of a rainbow toned coin to sell an untoned coin deserves negative feedback. Furthermore, I submit that Vegas Vic's response is completely irrelevant. If E-Bay sellers don't want an angry customers, then they shouldn't violate E-Bay rules in their listings.

Don't forget the part where there was 12 hours left on the listing, the high bid was only $150 but the option to hit the BIN button was just overwhelming. The due diligence exercised after buying the item could have occurred before buying the item.

IMO, a gamble occurred by the winning BINner.

I'm with Vic here, the seller made too many mistakes and didn't care to make it right. I would not only have to pay for int'l shipping but also for customs duties and I doubt anybody would come up for those if I'd return the coin...

It doesn't appear on the mobile version.

It's hard to take the mobile version seriously for anything, given that it won't even display enlarged images. The only things I'll typically buy through the mobile version are ones that I've already inspected in the normal Web view, or new BINs that are obviously underpriced without any need to do more than glance at the coin.
