Rainbow toning is almost always subject to photo enhancements by sellers so that the photo "looks" more like the coin in hand. However, in this case, the seller was obviously out to rip someone off. Sorry you had to be the "someone".

Get over it. You know the truth. That was all about the false information you were posting. In the other threads I did take the time to read every word of your long rants. You wanted me to go back and read it all over again. Not a chance. I probably told you to go back and read it yourself. To be honest, I did insult you in return for all the insults you were passing out to others.

So you misread my post and insult me. Because I tell you that you were wrong about what I said and asked you to cut and paste my so called words I never said you insult me again. Out of curiosity how would you feel about your behavior if you actually were willing to read the post and realized I never said what you thought I did. I can always repost it here or anywhere else so you can have others with more time tell you what happened. Feel free to "call my bluff". Please let's see what happens. Please.

I'm trying to understand why people are calling me a bad buyer. I have returned three prior items out of around a total of 400 from two accounts. Two of them were counterfeit coins by Pcgs.

One was also intentionally misrepresented in a fraudulent manner and because the guy refused to refund my money eBay actually had to take it from him and accidentally gave me $300 extra. By the way I spent considerable amounts of money getting them graded based on misrepresented facts. When a guy holds me up and takes my wallet and runs and while running drops both his and my wallet I'm not inclined to chase him down to give him his money back.

    Now here is what happened.

    1. I bought a coin with absolutely no statement that it was a stock photo.

    2. When looking at his other items it became clear to my that other items were using stock photos.i told him he was using stock photos and not send the coin if it was different.

    3. He ships the coin. I complain to eBay and here we are.

I get that neg threatening such as "give me a partial refund or I will neg you" is not ok. But what I told him specifically was not to send a stock photo different coin and I even went out of my way to discuss usage of stock photos.

To me it is like telling a guy trying to steal that if he steals I'll call the authorities and have him dealt with.

Maybe you are not allowed to use the word negative and in that case my bad I take responsibility. But I knew he was making a mistake or lying, I told him I knew, told him exactly what he was doing and his response is "relax". And sends the coin. He even tells me prior that while he doesn't see the rainbow that the photo was undoctored. While possibly correct he says it is the picture from the coin.

But this is my first neg I gave in over 400 transactions. Other then telling him the neg what else was wrong? He sent the wrong coin. Prior to shipping I told him it was the wrong coin and I get a "relax".

I think this has been hashed and rehashed enough. Nothing is going to change opinions, and eventually someone will say something which will violate my understanding of the rules, and something unpleasant will happen. Lets all have a better evening.

    Conclusion

He is refunding and paying shipping.

    So either
    1. It was intentional

    Or

    2. He is a coin dealer and lifelong Ana member who doesn't know what a stock photo is and doesn't understand toning affecting grade. He uses coinfacts but doesn't realize all coins don't look the same even when viewing Pcgs coinfacts pages with three different coins pictured. He has enough knowledge to look up coins but can't look at a radically different coin and see differences (colorblind). He knows how to submit coins to Pcgs but doesn't know how to check the photo by verifying with pcgs's website. He pays grading fees but never heard of secure, the extra cost and features. He has been in the business for 47 years but doesn't understand they are not identical coins.

Just fyi had he said "oops already sent the coin, or honestly almost anything else indicating there was a mistake ( or even said he was fishing for suckers and I caught him sorry dude) I would never have posted this and never thought twice.

I honestly don't know which scenario is correct. But I do think he has to hit every mistake in the second option to be declared honest.

So what should I do? Leave the neg? Change to neutral or good? All opinions welcome.

I would leave it. Anyone who does not realize picturing superior items (whether coins, cars or even nails) and then delivering something inferior does not deserve to sell anything.

You don't understand. It's was not just one post as I have said before. Can you not get that in your head? It was several threads with who knows how many post. You wrote a book with all your rants and insults towards dealers, older collectors and what you called the elders. Publish the book if you wish. I don't care how you wish to waste your time. It looks as if all you want to do is argue with folks. You should read it all yourself to understand your own behavior.

Seems like the dealer ought to have known better, I mean, I think my kids have a better understand of how PCGS cert verification works than this dealer, and they don't collect coins (yet)! I mean, does he think EVERY coin listed on PCGS Coinfacts for that date and MM are pictures of his coin?

I would agree you should have been upset, should have sought a return and refund, and it was worth initially pointing this problem out, as it helps educate others about what can go wrong with buying online, even if 99% of transactions work out well. As you know, I almost exclusively buy online.

But, @Vegas Vic, you really have beaten this horse to death, time to move on for your own health.

I hate customers who come out of the gates swinging. Why would I want to work with them if they are already threatening negatives, etc? Yes, he was in the wrong as a seller, but it sounds like you are the kind of customer I try to avoid.

First time. Even with the two counterfeit's I didn't. I was just upset because I knew what was happening. The threats were only because he was clearly using stock photos without properly labeling them, and then he did exactly what I told him not to do.

I had a real hard time swallowing this being a misunderstanding and vomited it right up.

Does the fact I was right mean anything about "come out of the gate swinging". Had you made this impressive "mistake" would you feel it was unwarranted hostility?

Ps I didn't want him to work with me I wanted him to avoid me starting right then. At least we agree there.

I had a very similar incident recently. I bought a 1925-D $2 1/2 that I KNEW was the wrong picture, because they actually used my picture of a current listing I had for sell. The item description said PCGS MS61. I bid based on that. After winning and paying, I asked if it was indeed a PCGS MS61 coin. I said if it is not, please issue a refund. I did not insult them, threaten a SNAD, threaten a negative, or be a pain in the rear like you did. If they had shipped, and it was not a PCGS MS61, I would have simply clicked on the refund request that ebay has now, which makes the buyer pay shipping. I might have left a negative if it came to it, but it did not. The seller said it was not pcgs MS61, apologized, and refunded my money. Things generally go smoother when you are not a jerk about it.

So the guy would have not shipped the coin if I said "pretty please, with sugar on top, don't send me the wrong coin"?

I get that I might not have approached this in a perfect way. I didn't think it was a violation to tell someone if they did the transaction "wrong" I would neg. But I have one encounter like this where I come off hostile (and proven correct) out of 400 and now I'm a "bad buyer" and a "jerk".

Fair enough. We all have opinions. Having not received any negs and only have given this one under these circumstances I would tell you I am definitely a bad buyer, that is if you are selling counterfeit coins or using stock photo's without mentioning that fact.

As frustrating as that exchange was it would have went down with a lot less stress if you just did a return once you received the coin rather than picking a fight from the start. If it was my case, I probably would just leave neutral. I only leave negative if the seller is completely unwilling to communicate or make things right, and sadly that has happened a couple times. Now whether or not this seller was being fraudulent or was just hopelessly confused ultimately doesn't matter because he was willing to make things right. All you can do is block him, hes probably not going anywhere.
