I haven't been selling on eBay for long but just from my experience the real bidding doesn't really start until right at the end of the auction so I wouldn't panic if it's still low at this point.... if you've got a good number of watchers that's usually a good sign.

And I've never put a reserve on any of my listings and I've started to begin as many things as possible for .99 cents.... before when I'd start it at near what I wanted to get I'd get little to no action but with starting it low things have been selling good and often for a lot more then what I thought it'd go for..... but then I have had a handful of items that I assumed would go for more just sell at the .99 cents which can be hard to swallow.

You can pull it off, and start over.

No one has mentioned this yet, but eBay changed their pricing in April so that there's no fee for listing the first 50 items a month, so unless that changes for a much higher starting price, I'd feel a lot more comfortable if I were you listing the starting price in the neighborhood of what you'd be comfortable letting it go for. You said the coin in question should go for a few thousand dollars, so you'd be awfully upset if you only got $150 for it. Cover your butt and start it higher and then you won't lose sleep over it.
