<p>[QUOTE=&quot;Troodon, post: 359513, member: 4626&quot;]If you knew which people were trying to injure you, you could takes steps to avoid them.&nbsp; I&#039;m more worries about people who just aren&#039;t paying attention or are just poor drivers... they&#039;re more of a proven danger.</p><p><br /></p><p>Er... the analogy at that point doesn&#039;t carry over to eBay well.&nbsp; Excpet that buyers and sellers have a reputation on eBay... it&#039;s called their feedback... and those that rotinely try to cheat people eventually get a reputation for doing so and people learn to avoid them, if eBay doesn&#039;t kick them off.&nbsp; Your best defense against such people is to become educated about what&#039;s real and what&#039;s not, what things are really worth, and to pay good attention to the seller&#039;s reputation.</p><p><br /></p><p>I&#039;ve bought and ocassinally sold things on eBay for about 10 years now.&nbsp; In that time I&#039;ve only ever ran into one problem seller, and one problem buyer.&nbsp; It&#039;s not just luck; I&#039;ve learned to pay close attention to reputation, and to look closely at the listings for any red flags that what&#039;s being listed insn&#039;t worth what&#039;s asked or that the seller doesn&#039;t look trustworthy.&nbsp; You&#039;ll still get a bad apple now and then but if you&#039;re having problems with even 1% of who you deal with on eBay you&#039;re not being as cautious as you should be.</p><p><br /></p><p>P.S.&nbsp; The worst thing that can happen to you on eBay if a seller rips you off is you&#039;re out whatever money you paid.&nbsp; Even if 1% were trying to do that to you, that&#039;s pretty good odds.&nbsp; You won&#039;t end up dead or in the hospital because of it so I&#039;d say your analogy isn&#039;t&nbsp; any better than mine lol...&nbsp; Besides another way it breaks down is that if 1% of drivers were actively trying to intentionally injure people, you can bet law enforcement would actively be searching for such people to arrest them and stop them.&nbsp; That&#039;s better odds than you get with eBay enforcement which is not especially proactive... they wait for a problem to be brought to their attention before they do anything for the most part... but they will take action in the most blatant cases at least, usually... excpetions exist of course, but they&#039;re easily avoided most of the time.[/QUOTE]</p><p><br /></p>
