ToughCOINS is constantly bombarded by emails from would-be "buyers" of gold coinage, looking to pay only by credit card. They make it clear that credit card is the only means by which they will purchase. I must skeptically assume they are intent upon filing chargebacks once they receive tracking numbers for the merchandise. Those buyers can go to another dealer, assuming they can find one willing to take that chance. Checks and money orders are sometimes forged, so we do not ship until those types of payment clear our account. PayPal is virtually worry-free, permitting us to ship immediately.
I do not accept any check or money order besides postal ones, and I have them check it out very carefully (including checking the money order number) to make sure it is real. I have had a few fraudulent claims with paypal, but usually get them resolved with enough effort.
My Paypal is linked to my credit union bank account, not my primary one. The amount of money in that account is strictly limited...basically in and out as needed. Rob
BUT know your seller first. No protection using a money order with a scammer - seems like lots of ebay accounts get hi-jacked. That is why I use CC with paypal - two types of protection. My CC company even told me if paypal does not solve an issue to my satisfaction to give them a call.
