Ok, no verbal attacks here, but I wanted to address some comments that our new friend Mr. SCCC made about my post. Why I am even having to defend myself is ridiculous but here it goes. Some of us are not as experienced on ebay as others. I like to think that I am experienced, but there are new things that pop up every now and again that catch me by surprise. This was one of them.

Mr. SCCC continually states that I checked off my return policy when making my listing on ebay - this is incorrect. First, I use a template, so whatever was checked off previously stays checked off unless of course you change it each and every time which I don't. Second, I used to have the basic 7 day return policy, but I never checked off a 14 day policy. In 2013 ebay changed their return policy to mandate a minimum of 14 days. I did accept the change and by doing so, my listing automatically defaulted to the 14 day minimum return policy because a seven day policy was no longer available. Yes, the 14 days is the default or nominal setting. And just incase you think I'm making this up, here is the release from ebay last year. I took the liberty to highlight the important part.

"Online buyers look for a reassuring return policy when deciding which products to buy. To be competitive and to attract the most number of buyers, offer a generous return policy. If you have a standard or above performance rating you’ll also get a boost in Best Match, eBay’s default sort order, for offering a 14-day or longer return policy.

Remember, all listings on eBay must specify a return policy—even if the policy is no returns accepted.* Keep in mind that a relatively small percentage of purchases get returned and most sellers find that offering a generous policy more than pays for itself in increased sales.

It’s important to clearly explain how your policy works in your listings, on your eBay Store pages, and on your About Me page so buyers understand their options. Make sure the return policy options you specify in your listing and any details you offer about your return policy in your listing description are consistent.

Beginning the first week of May(2013), sellers who accept returns will be required to have a minimum 14-day return policy and offer a money-back option. Starting the first week of May 28, you will also have the opportunity to use a new return process on eBay—giving buyers an easy way to return items and you an efficient way to manage returns—including 1-click refunds that automatically credit back your final value fees.

- See more at: http://pages.ebay.com/ae/en-us/sellerinformation/build-your-business-online/deliver-great-service/returns-best-practices/#sthash.Wi6cEfH5.dpuf"

So because I hadn't created a new template in years, I went to create a new one to see for myself what is available. Mr SCCC is correct that you have a choice to select a 14 day return policy or not. This is not automatically selected for you as I may have alluded to. But if you do have a return policy, the minimum is now a 14 day period. You can have longer if you chose or you can have none, but you can't have anything shorter. And if you don't select the box then you will have no returns and as discussed previously, this could hurt any future sales.

Next he keeps repeating himself about this 20% discount. I have no idea what he is talking about. I am 95% collector/buyer and 5% seller. I don't have an ebay store that I sell from. Maybe those with an ebay store get 20% off, but I surely don't. I pay a 12.3% fee on ebay and paypal combined. What I can't stand are dealers with ebay stores who lie about their fees to us customers to make us feel sorry for them. People with ebay stores get discounts because they usually pay a monthly fee. So I really don't know what he means when he keeps telling me that I would have received a 20% discount if I listed it under bullion. This is not a bullion coin and I would not have listed that way. Plus sellers can't get their ebay bucks when an item is listed under bullion and I completely respect that because I collect ebay bucks as well.

Next, he makes a "whining" complaint himself about these big companies and deep pocket individuals who buy up all the commemorative coins and then sell at high prices. That my friend is called capitalism and I love it. Other than the quick sell out of the gold coins, which I will admit shocked me considering that we hadn't had a gold sell out in nearly three decades, the silver coins had been available for well over two weeks after they went on sale and the clads are still available. If you hadn't bought your coins in the first few weeks then you are either lazy or procrastinated too long. And this is not name calling. I have made these very same comments on other posts because people felt that the ordering limits were too high. High as they were, the coins did not sell out overnight and there was plenty of time to get your orders in with the exception of the gold pieces. And if you wanted one and weren't able to order yours then I am sorry.....but don't blame us "deep pocketed" individuals...blame the mint for setting the ordering limits and blame congress for setting the mintage limits. And I am sorry to say Mr. SCCC, no it is not your right to be able to purchase US govt. issued commemorative coins. Nobody has a right to that and nobody ever has.

Your are right Mr. SCCC, I did make out like a bandit and it wasn't because of my college education that you keep alluding to. I made out because when I see an opportunity to make a few dollars, I jump at it. You have that same opportunity as well. I am definitely not complaining about that. And no, I was not complaining about losing my sale either. I have lost a lot more in life than a measly 4 grand and I am sure I will lose even more as I age. But that is life and I am willing to take those chances....are you? Thats your choice and I would never fault you for that, so why do you feel the need to fault me? Do me a favor and go back and read the poem at the end of my post. Did I not educate the members on here by giving them a real life example of what could happen? That is what I call education. If I went to war and lost both my legs and then came home to educate my fellow Americans about the risk of war, would you criticize me for doing so? Would you say that I am whining about losing both my legs when it was my choice to join the army?

Mostly all the members on here are civil and we expect that in return. People supported me because that is what we do here. We support each other when we make stupid and silly mistakes and we congratulate those who have victories in their collecting endeavors.

I apologize for any name calling as that was inappropriate and for any offense that you may have taken to it.

Joe
