I'm not interested in buying this coin... But it looks fake. http://www.ebay.com/itm/1889-1-Morgan-Silver-Dollar-MS-62-NGC-Toned-Colorful-67-/272040455019
Bad pics, but it matches the one on ngc website. http://www.ngccoin.com/certlookup/index.aspx?CertNumber=2664616-055
Almost sure it's a real coin, unless they found a perfect NGC slab with a coin the looks the same as the one photographed on the cert lookup
That doesn't look like a MS 62 coin to me at all. It looks circulated, as that coin in the photo has wear. Sorry, but something doesn't add up.
The NGC cert lookup coin and the eBay coin are, absolutely and without a doubt, one and the same. Don't worry about it...
Ugliest MS 62 coin I have ever seen. If that isn't wear, then it is the weakest strike in history. I'd never even look at that as an example of a decent coin for that date.
Have you looked at the ngc pics? Looks a lot better. Still an ugly coin, but the sellers pics are terrible of it.
Yeah, the NGC pics are much better. This is an example of 'which would you rather have'? A comely high AU coin or a flea bitten low number UNC.?
Oh yes. I have AU 55 and 58 coins that have far more eye appeal, and are better strikes. I still say that coin is not MS-- I think they blew the grade. I see weak hair, wear on the eagle's breast, and feathers. Either that, or it is an awful strike, and that is not a super bad strike date/ mint.
Not much of a strike, but don't forget, 1889-P was the single highest Morgan mintage outside 1921 and they had fewer dies than were produced for previous years. Weak strikes can be expected of this one. All the same, I couldn't call this one Mint State based on the available images (including NGC's). Doesn't mean it isn't. If it's Uncirculated, it's lost at least one grade and maybe two to sheer ugliness.
