So if it is acceptable for you to charge $8 for a $5 set, why is it unacceptable for others to do so on eBay??? You just aren't being consistent or logical.
I never said that. $3 is not much a diff , and I would not mind paying that. But $20 would be a different story.
"Basement dwellers" huh? Detecto I could easily see you sitting down in the dark of your parent's basement trying to get attention with your silly posts.....glass house and rocks my friend...they don't mix!
not breaking rules but he does it over and over and over.....i think the members of this forum are unusually nice and patient but detecto just does not seem genuine to me at times and it is frustrating.....he seems to just post things to get a reaction out of others which i sadly sometimes find myself sometimes doing.....NEVER AGAIN DETECTO!!!
I think ebays glory days are behind them. I rather buy from a dealer's site. Everything else I rather buy from amazon. You'd be amazed what you can find there. I even buy safty razors blades from them. I don't need ebay or their paypal only games.
While I believe that something is worth what one is willing to pay...you must still be careful what you are charging for something. You say that it's OK to charge $8 for a $5 item because it's only a difference of $3...but it's 1.6x it's "value." Would it be OK to charge $3200 for a $2000 coin? It's the same ratio? Now, I would hope someone who is willing to pay $3200 for a coin would have the knowledge or at least the intelligence to do some research first. But, would selling that coin for $3200 be acceptable?
I found a nice 1875cc (below bow) dime in AU53 condition, listed by an individual for $299. It was listed for about 6 months at that price. A dealer from Las Vegas bought it, used the same photo's the other seller used, and asked $399. He had it on eBay for about a year as an AU58. I contacted him several times to see if he would deal on it. He never would budge. Both those prices are over retail at the grade posted, but they never relisted lower. That's the longest I have ever seen the same coin for sale on eBay, about a year and one half.
By tier 1, do you mean an E-Bay store owner? The basic store costs $15.95 per month which entitles you to the $0.20 listing fees. Any seller who consistently has 50+ items for sale should have a store.
Yeah I was referring to the 15.95 per month store. Ive considered getting one of the stores as over the past year I have steadily sold more and more on ebay. Main downside is that you no longer get the 50 free listings. For now I just have multiple Ebay accounts and use the 50 freebees for each. But considering the huge success I had this past week by listing many items under BIN when Ebay had those 5000 free listings a week ago, I might change one of my accounts to a 15.95 store and use it for BIN listings then keep the other 2 for the 50 free auctions.
