I have been lucky with my purchases on ebay. Some were from a member. He also gave me a little "heads up". I know that there are counterfeits out there, Raw and Slabbed. So far, I hvave been very lucky.
There are a couple of dealers on Ebay who take such bright, low-contrast pics that one cannot even make out a mint mark. I'm describing listings for Walking Liberty Halves. Almost ALL details washed out. These are pretty much all AU-BU coins, naturally... Gee, sorry I'm using such a bright light; don't you want this shiny coin?!!
Prickliness is a habit which can be overcome with sufficient attention. Paraphrasing Bela Lugosi, "Are vee not... numismatists?!"
Poor pictures on eBay = bullion value bid incl shipping Sometimes I’ll shoot the moon with a new ebayer and go 10% over bullion, even buy multiples. If they just don’t know what their doing, sometimes it works for me I’m way ahead with this formula but with silver at $25 there’s not much room for error Your results may vary
