Actually, no, the seller did not get "hijacked". Here is what happened: The seller sold about 300 video games to 250 buyers, got positive feedback on all of them. This took place over 3 months. Then seller then went on a selling blitz, selling about 1000 or so video games within 2 weeks that he never intended to deliver, and ran off with the money. I got duped by the 250 / 100% rating (as did about 1000 others), and the immediate positive feedback. I overlooked the "newness" of the seller, and frankly, it never crossed my mind that such a scheme might be taking place. Had I known to scrutininze the number of video games available for sale at the time, compared with the previous volume, I might not have bid. But, as they say, hindsight is 20/20. Hate to admit it, but it was a clever scheme. Fortunately, I only lost $30. I could have filed a claim with Ebay, but it would have been a pain, and there is a $25 deductible. I complained to Ebay and suggested that they waive the deductible because they let the scheme take place, but all I got were "form letter" responses, and I just lost interest in pursuing it. I did learn from it, and I have seen this scheme repeated several times, even with coins. So, if you see a seller has built feedback selling a bunch of cheap coins, then suddenly has dozens of MS-66 Morgans for sale, watch out!!!
I have only sold 40 or so of my books on eBay, but learned that some buyers may not be allowed to leave feedback. My pet peeve is I was dinged for shipping and handling charges by one buyer when I lost money on the shipping. Go figure ?
Ya I like how some think you charge too much, when by the time you insure it or do tracking the shipping and handling isn't even close to what they paid.
I hate it when you pay for something quickly and you have a good transaction and the seller never gives you feedback even after I do. I have an interesting question, what percentage of buyers do some of you sellers see that don't leave feedback?
5 years ago, when this thread was started, I only left feedback for those who left it for me. Today, I am back to doing the same. BTW, when I sell, I also leave my feedback as soon as I get paid promptly.
When I have this problem after I have posted positive feedback, I will send two reminder emails. After that, I follow up to my feedback left and just state "This seller/buyer does not participate in the feedback program." Then I cease to do business with him. That makes me very happy and the issue is over.
I always leave feed back to make sure I get everything I win when I recieve it. some times I bid on several items in a few days and find this the easiest way to keep track. Plus by waiting you still have the leverage, if you need it with seller. So far I haven't started selling any thing.
I always leave it too. One thing I have to say is I have had a LOT of issues lately receiving the items I paid for at all. I've been on Ebay and other trading forums online for over 10 years now and have like 500+ trades (buyer, seller, cross-trader). I have yet to receive a negative or even neutral eval. And up until about 8 months ago I had left maybe 2 or 3 neutrals and no negatives. However, in that time (the last 8 months) I have left at least ten negatives and made that same numer of claims through ebay and paypal for non-receipt! Its ridiculous. These range from simple BU wheat fillers for $2 or $3 bucks to computer hardware worth over $100. I just don't get it... Maybe its a sign of the times...the economy being bad or whatever, but I definately find myself questioning every single transaction I get into now because of the resent issues. Thankfully I've recovered all of my money that I spent on items I never received, but its just annoying that I have to go through the whole process...thinking that I have an item i need and never getting it and in the meantime missing out on others, and then having to wait to be reimbursed. People need to get a life.
