I have to agree - post the Negative Feedback. And if you get one in return - then you get the opportunity to either have ebay remove it or at least respond to it.
The seller has already played his/her feedback card. I would leave negative feedback now. Wankler was done wrong by this seller. Other eBayers need to know this. BTW, this seller has been on my Blocked Sellers list for a long time. Wish I had known Wankler was looking at that seller's auctions, I would have warned him away.
Yeah I know what yall mean, but, if he has 100% like me, and sells coins too that one negative can turn ebayers away, especially depending on the circumstance, perhaps the pics he posts aren't that good, etc, and he relies soley on the feedback score as I do, even more so if you haven't had that many feedback scores in the first place, i've got 13, one negative would turn me down to a what? 98% ... I know it's only one negative, but, one negative for someone just starting out isn't a good deal, at least not in my opinion.
That's exactly why some of the problems ebay has are not being solved. They have dealers with great feedback levels because everyone is afraid of posting a neg for fear of getting one in return. Well horsepuckey !! All that does is perpetuate the problem and give future potentail buyers the idea that this is a good seller when he/she is not. Tell the truth - state how you feel - and let the chips fall where they may. Then maybe some of these sellers who cheat & scam will fall by the wayside.
GDJMSP makes a great point. This type of action isn't limited to just EBAY though. Look at the grading service mess that took place this year. There are many large mail order dealers surviving on the "I am too big" mentality.
After I got burned -- 1. I ask each seller whether the raw coin has been cleaned, polished or toned. 2. If seller does not respond - I don't bid. 3. If seller indicates that he/she doesn't know, I ask what is the refund policy if the raw coin has been cleaned, polished or toned. 4. If the coin is expensive I just ask the seller if he/she is willing to use Escrow.com for payment protection. If no answer or a negative respond-forget that seller. Escrow.com has already save me from one liar. 5. Ebay has a "Code of Conduct for Selling Coins" and one of the sections deals with false or misleading information about the perceived condition of the coin. Of course, that in itself doesn't hold much water but it did when I bought the Dealer's hype MS-65 and PCGS said it was a AU-58. Dealer was honest enough to refund difference -- after some discussion about the "Code." 6. I don't think that we'll ever get rid of the seller's hype. I just ask the seller if the coin doesn't grade MS-63 by PCGS as indicated in the listing can it be returned for a refund. I find that about one out of five sellers respond positively. The rest go on my S___list. And, that list is getting larger. What do they say -- "If it sounds to be too good to be true_________." Good Shopping CHRIS!! Bob
